Closeness. 2014.

Closeness explores proximity and connectedness to land as mediated through the photographic image. The work uses camera movement to reduce the landscape to a series of lines, colours and forms, making the process of reproduction apparent, and revealing the mediation inherent in representation.

While the landscape continues to be recognised and reconstructed amidst the perceptual abstraction, Closeness questions the inevitability of distance, and the limits of understanding through the image.

Closeness is presentated as a single filmstrip image of multiple images taken at a specific location within the Blackdown Tablelands National Park, Queensland.
